Jack Link’s Sasquatch lets loose completely.
Fallon's mascot creature wreaks havoc in an absurd manner. Get ready to be amazed: Sasquatch goes wild!
Absurdity with a serious tone: Capturing authenticity
“Our guiding principle for this campaign was ‘absurdity with a serious tone’, so we wanted to capture the authenticity of the moment through the camera rather than relying on special effects,” explains Justin Miller, creative director at Fallon. “We want people to say, ‘Wow, did they really do that?'”
Well yes, they did! And the result is incredibly ridiculous. Congratulations!
From gentleness to madness: Practical device and offbeat hilarity.
“The practical device allowing us to connect our main actors to their wild side was at the heart of the story and the humor of the spots,” says Miller. “We had to find a way to connect them to a Sasquatch as if they were conjoined. It was a challenge, but doing it in a practical way added the perfect level of offbeat comedy.”
“The other essential aspect of the shoot was to synchronize the transition from gentleness to madness,” he continues. “We had a lot of story to tell in 15 seconds. Successfully marking the moments from the first abrupt bite to the shoulder’s growth to become a real Sasquatch required a lot of practice.”
Squatch debuted 17 years ago, and this new work marks a new step in the evolution of the creature.
In older ads, “people would eat Jack Link’s products, which inspired them to go wild, always at the expense of Sasquatch,” Miller recalls. “But not anymore! Now, Sasquatch has become the literal embodiment of your wild side, lying dormant within you until you’re ready to unleash your inner beast. So, is Sasquatch wilder? Absolutely!”
